Al Maqārisah is a city in northern Tunisia. Hafs ibn Al Marr is the traditional founder of the Tunisian city of Bizerte and its surroundings: he is quoted as having migrated from Egypt and founded 'Al Maqarisah', which became its buffer zone and rural hinterland. It belongs to Ariana Governorate, on the Plaine du Sahel between Tunis and Bizerte (18 km north-west of Tunis). At the 2004 Census, it had a population of 41,213 inhabitants.
